Getting Ready For Fall

Thursday, September 18, 2014 – by OVR Staff
September is over halfway over and I can’t help but be ready for fall! Even here in paradise, we need a break from the heat and humidity that is the summer season in Myrtle Beach! The leaves are finally starting to show signs of turning and the heat has lifted just a bit. It won’t be long and the air will be way less humid with super comfortable temps, and for us, THAT is the perfect time to take a much deserved vacation! Many people ask us all through the year, when is the best time to come to the beach. Without a doubt, I would have to say the fall! There’s just no beating Myrtle Beach in the fall months. The crowds have dispersed and the traffic is easier to flow through. (If that’s ever possible here!) Certainly, the traffic on Ocean Blvd is much better, even if there seems to be never ending road work and construction everywhere else. Also, the attractions for the most part are still open in September and October, even though school has started back.

If you love the cooler temps and beauty of the fall, be sure and check out the amazing prices we have on many condos and beach houses during October and November! The price savings can be drastic as compared to summer months, and this means that you can stay in the places you thought were out of your price range. So why not spoil yourself and enjoy some wonderful accommodations at huge savings?
Be sure and check out all the fall events going on in Myrtle Beach during the fall. Places like Brookgreen Gardens, Broadway at the Beach, and even the performing theaters have shows and activities just for fall, with lower prices and super fun events. Our local farms offer hayrides and pumpkin festivals, so there is no shortage of fun around here for the fall
Of course, we can’t close out September without thinking of 9/11 and all it means to every American. Perhaps you knew someone who died in those terrible attacks. Our country is facing battles and enemies like never before, but we hope to always give you a place to come and take time out to enjoy your family. May God continue to bless America! We hope to see you soon!

The Perfect Fall Vacation in Myrtle Beach

Monday, September 29, 2014 – by OVR Staff
Ahhh, Myrtle Beach in the fall season….nothing could be better! At least that’s the opinion of lots of people who are smart and choose to take their vacation in the fall season, rather than peak summer season. Why, you may ask? Well, think about this: A Myrtle Beach oceanfront beach house affords you all the luxuries and then some, of home. You can easily afford it, especially in the off season and especially when you go in with several friends and family who are willing to share it with you. You could get an oceanfront house that goes for thousands during the summer and easily cut that price in half here in October. PLUS, divide that among a few friends or family and you are paying less than you would at a nice hotel, and you’re getting the fun together time that comes from being together at the beach, all under the same roof! One of my favorite things to do is to break out board games when I’m with family and friends. And I LOVE doing it on a nice big balcony while listening to the ocean roar! So, if you’re thinking of a beach vacation, now is the time! The weather is warm and pleasant, the water is still fine, the attractions are still open for the most part, and the deals are amazing Call us today and we’ll get you started toward the perfect fall Myrtle Beach vacation today!!

Condos and Beach Houses Are Better Than Hotels

Friday, October 31, 2014 – by OVR Staff
If you love coming to Myrtle Beach, you most likely have stayed in many a hotel. While hotels are nice, have you ever considered staying in a condo or beach house instead? There are lots of benefits to choosing this route, not the least of which is financial! Most condos rent weekly, so you’re not paying high nightly rates the way you would in a hotel. If you have friends or family to chip in on the cost, you could come out in really great shape, only paying a small amount each! This is especially true with a beach house.

The amenities are endless. You’ll have access to a full kitchen, full size appliances, laundry room with washer and dryer, and all the things you would need in a kitchen. With a washer and dryer handy, you could wash your own linens and towels as often as you like and not have to pay for extras. Daily maid service won’t be needed and that too will save you a lot of money. Since you’ll be able to cook at home, you may prefer to eat in more often and save money on all the restaurant bills. Plus, you can bring in whatever groceries you like and have a place to store them properly. All houses and condos also come with a vacuum cleaner and other cleaning supplies for your convenience. The only cleaning fee you’ll pay is the cleaning that will happen after you leave.
Saving money on food, nightly rates, etc., means that you’ll have extra money for the fun stuff around Myrtle Beach! November is a fun month around here, and if you’ve never taken a fall vacation, now is your time! The crowds are gone, the weather is beautiful and comfortable, and you’ll be able to enjoy a quieter, more serene beach. This is what we all want on vacation, right?! Come get away in an oceanfront condo or beach house. Call us today and let us help you see just how much money you can save!

The Perfect Thanksgiving In a Beach House

Tuesday, November 11, 2014 – by OVR Staff
Have you made your Thanksgiving plans yet? Well, why not gather your family together for a Thanksgiving celebration you’ll never forget right here in Myrtle Beach! I speak from experience because I have done it with my family and it was the best and most memorable Thanksgiving holiday we can remember.

For many, the beautiful beachfront houses in Myrtle Beach are out of reach due to the rental prices. However, most of them are huge and have several bedrooms, making them the perfect place for large family gatherings. They all feature big kitchens that are fully stocked, which makes them perfect for all the cooking and baking fun that comes with a holiday meal. This means that even if the rental fees seem high, it can easily be obtained when several people go in together. Many of these beach houses have up to 8-10 bedrooms, so several families could easily stay together.
When my own family decided to do this, we rented a big beach house that has a main house, a courtyard, and two other smaller wings that held more bedrooms and bathrooms. Everyone had their privacy and was able to come and hang out together in the main house. The kids were able to take naps in a quiet bedroom while the adults watched TV or cooked or went to the beach. Speaking of the beach, there is easy access to the beach and a shower to rinse off before coming back inside. Many of our beach homes have large decks and pools where you can leave your towels to dry. Full scale laundry rooms also allow you to stay on top of your dirty clothes as needed.
Usually, towels and linens are not included in the rental fee, but can be ordered for an extra charge. Most people prefer to just bring their own linens and wash them as needed.
Renting a large beach house to spend Thanksgiving in gave my relatives a phenomenal place to play and enjoy each other. We played games, relaxed, walked the beach, enjoyed the cooler air, and of course, enjoyed an amazing Thanksgiving dinner that we prepared together! Keep in mind that the weather in Myrtle Beach is perfect this time of the year—not too cold and not too warm. Average fall temps are in the 60s during the day and 40s and 50s at night. You might want a jacket to walk the beach since it’s windier along the ocean, but you will love the fall weather and all that goes along with it here in Myrtle Beach. So come on down and enjoy your holidays with us!

We have tons of events, lights, parades, and lots of other family-friendly activities that makes the beach come alive in a whole different way than summer season. Chances are you’ve spent at least one family vacation here in Myrtle Beach during the summer, but the city takes on a whole new atmosphere during the holiday season, and you’d never know it unless you come experience it for yourself!
Here are some reasons to come sing fa lal la la in Myrtle Beach this Christmas:
•Great deals. When it comes to oceanfront condos, the most inexpensive time to book is during the months of December and January. Condo owners want to rent their units and so they will often take bookings at a greatly discounted rate rather than make nothing.
•Great weather. While Myrtle Beach does get some cold weather, we usually have mild winters and you will enjoy some walks on the beach with nothing more than a light jacket or sweater. In the unusual event of cold weather, it usually does not stay cold more than a couple of days.
•No crowds. Ever dreamed having the beach all to yourself? Well, chances are you can when you come to Myrtle Beach in December! There are hardly any crowds and you will enjoy the beautiful oceanfront views WITHOUT the wall to wall people. Restaurants and shows are much easier to get into, and many of them offer great deals and discounts during the holidays.
•While the water parks are closed during the winter, most hotels and condos have heated swimming pools, so go ahead and bring your swim suits and take a dip in a hot tub or pool!
•Festive events. Myrtle Beach has lots of fun events for the whole family during the month of December. Whether you want to drive through a Christmas light wonderland set to music with Shadrack’s Light Extravaganza, or enjoy the Carolina Opry Christmas show, or even a great fireworks display, you won’t have any problem getting in the Christmas spirit here at the beach!

The Spirit of Giving Is Easy!

Sunday, December 21, 2014 – by OVR Staff
Here we are, just a few days away from Christmas! If you are one of those people who shops and prepares everything ahead of time so that you can enjoy your Christmas activities in highly organized bliss, then, well, the rest of us will try not to resent you too much! However, for the other 99% of us, it’s highly likely that all the Christmas shopping is not done, laundry is piling up, kids are out of school, and the house is a mess. Or you might find yourself in that elite club of people who don’t believe in doing any Christmas shopping whatsoever until Christmas Eve. Wherever you find yourself in that mix, we hope that you can take time to enjoy the season, celebrate your friends and family, and remember to look for ways to give of yourself.

Many feel lonely during this time of the year, so why not look for someone to reach out to? Make it a family experience by involving your children in the process and joy of giving. Consider cleaning out the toy box and finding toys to give away. Make sure they are in great condition—no one wants t play with broken toys. Allow your children to make a Christmas card for the recipient and include a special message.
Bake cookies and give away some yummy treats to your friends and neighbors. It’s a great way to be thoughtful without spending a lot of money.
Pack a shoebox of small toys and hygiene items that are age appropriate and be a part of Operation Christmas Child, or other charities that distribute your boxes to needy children across the world.
Consider buying a bag of groceries for someone in need. Gift cards are also great for this! Even a gas card can be a great way to really bless someone in need.
Christmas presents us with tons of opportunity to give. You just have to have your eyes open because there is tremendous need all around us if we will look! You have a great chance this season to be a part of possibly changing someone’s life for the better. Don’t let it pass you by! Even better, keep up that spirit of giving all year.

Reflecting on 2014

Tuesday, December 30, 2014 – by OVR Staff
It’s the end of 2014 and that means time to reflect on your year and be thankful for all you have. Perhaps your year has been a tough one, and being thankful seems to be a tough thing to do. I know in my own family, we have had to endure sickness, death and loss, and also some amazing highs, with weddings and parties, and special birthdays to celebrate. We’ve had the birth of some precious babies in the family and that always makes me think about the circle and cycle of lit and how God has set it up for us to always see His hand in every season.

For many businesses, the economy has made it a hard year and you’re just glad to still have your doors open and doing business each month. For others, you are finally seeing a glimmer of hope for an upswing in the economy as we slowly recover. Whatever the case, we can all look for ways to bless others, even though we may have little. I don’t know about you, but when I look for opportunities to impact someone’s life for the better, everything in my own life just seems richer and more full. As we get ready to close out this year, we here at Oceanfront Vacations want to challenge each of you to take the time to be thankful for all that you have been blessed with this year, and also make a plan for how you can do good for others in the year to come. Perhaps it’s getting the kids involved with regular donations to Good Will from their own toys and clothes, or preparing a meal for a family in need. Whatever you choose to do, don’t let the holiday season of November and December be the only time you think about giving and being thankful. It’s truly something we can do every day of the year if we will just choose to do it. Of course, one way you can give of your time is to be with your family and unplug, unwind, and turn off the technology as you spend time together. There’s no better place to get away than at the beach for a perfect winter get away! If you’ve never experienced Myrtle Beach in the winter, come and let the solitude recharge your batteries and draw your family together. We pray that your Christmas has been fantastic and that you have enjoyed your friends and family, and we also pray that you will experience all God’s best in 2015. We all have only one life, so make it count in this new year!! Happy New Year from Oceanfront Vacations!
