Why Flying To Myrtle Beach Can Save You Money

Friday, January 17, 2014 – by OVR Staff
If you’re like so many thousands of people across the country, you’re growing weary with winter and already thinking and planning your next vacation. For many, that vacation is spent right here on the Grand Strand! This is the time to start planning your vacation and save some money by planning ahead. While most people still pack up the family car and drive to Myrtle Beach, more and more are choosing to fly instead. Myrtle Beach International airport has recently expended and they are welcoming more and more airlines, which pass the savings to you. So, with flying becoming more convenient than ever, have you thought about packing for a week-long family vacation? Here’s a great tip!

Instead of lugging all those suitcases through the airport, consider shipping them ahead at your UPS location! They offer a “luggage box” which can be shipped ahead so that it will greet you on arrival here in Myrtle Beach. If you think this is too expensive, think again! Most airlines charge big fees now to check luggage and when you multiply that with the number of family members flying, it can get VERY costly! Shipping your luggage ahead can actually save you money. Also, this means you would not need to show up hours ahead to the airport. You can just check in at a kiosk and then proceed straight to security.
Be sure to pack a bag with activities for the kids and take a carry-on bag with your personal items and a change of clothes. Call us today to book your perfect beach house or condo and then ship your bags ahead, show up and start relaxing!

Why Plan a Winter Vacation To Myrtle Beach?

Wednesday, February 19, 2014 – by OVR Staff
Have you ever thought about taking a winter vacation? Well, Myrtle Beach is one of top vacation destinations on the east coast, second only to Disney World. While many of us have vacationed in Myrtle Beach after school lets out, why not steal away for some family time during the winter? It’s loaded with perks and benefits you might not think about….Here are just a few.

in Myrtle Beach is usually very mild, with average temps in the 50’s or 60’s during the day and usually 40’s to 50’s at night. This makes walking on the beach wonderful! You still have the warmth of the sun on your face, and it’s not too cold to enjoy being out there. If you’re a Canadian or a die-hard snow bird, you probably won’t mind Winter actually taking a dip in the surf either, although most of us normal people will find the 50 degree ocean temperature a bit chilly!
Let’s talk crowds. Anyone who’s vacationed in Myrtle Beach knows it’s a hotbed of crowds and lines at the local attractions. However, during the winter months, many attractions are still open, minus all that wait time! If you’ve ever been here in the summer, then you also know how congested the traffic can be since 80% of vacationers drive to Myrtle Beach. When you come during off-season, you will cut your drive time around town in half, especially downtown or on Ocean Blvd., which is at a slow crawl during the summer. The smaller crowds in the winter months also mean you can practically have the beach all to yourself! If you love collecting seashells, then doing it in the early mornings during the off-season is one of the best ways to get some true gems! You’ll be amazed at what you find.
Finally, the best reason of all—it’s CHEAPER! Who doesn’t love a great deal?? No matter how you slice it, coming to Myrtle Beach in the winter is much less expensive. Gas is cheaper, food is cheaper, and most of all, hotels and condos are MUCH cheaper! You can get a huge beach house that is super nice, bring some family or friends, and split that cost between you and end up paying far less than you would even in a cheap motel. This is a GREAT way to enjoy the best accommodations for a fraction of the cost. Many area attractions have discounted rates during the winter, so you can see shows and other events for far less than you would in the summer.
With all these great reasons, what are you waiting for? Make your plans and call us today to book your affordable, perfect place to stay in Myrtle Beach! You’ll be surprised what awaits you!

Making Myrtle Beach Memories

Tuesday, February 25, 2014 – by OVR Staff
Myrtle Beach is one of those places that come with magical memories. Many of us grew up coming to the beach every year, whether it was summer or not. For families all over the eastern United States, bringing your family to Myrtle Beach every year is almost like a rite of passage. I remember all my friends coming back from the beach every summer, looking gloriously tan and exhausted from all the fun they had. When my family finally went, my friends and I got together to compare stories, which quickly turned into a competition for who went to the coolest water park or rode the most scary rides. When I was a child, my uncle owned a camper right on the ocean at Lakewood Campground. Every summer we got to go spend a week there and I have some of the best memories of playing on the beach and spending hours in the indoor pool if it rained. For nice days, I spend MANY hours at the local outdoor pool at the campground, which I remember had a water slide that went through a secret cave built into the side of the “mountain.” I loved going down that slide! For the really adventurous days, we would head down the road to the water park called Magic Mountain. If any of you came to Myrtle Beach during the 70’s and 80’s you might remember this place—it was epic in my world! It was one of those old fashioned water parks where you grabbed a mat and shot down the concrete slide like a bullet. Little did I know that I would actually live in Myrtle Beach one day and that wonderful park, like many others, would no longer exist. Of course, there are many new and wonderful places on the Myrtle Beach scene now, but I think many people like me still miss the days of the Pavilion Amusement Park, The Magic Attic, The Arcade downtown and some of the old attractions that are not here any longer. The economic downturn has been tough on our area, but the good news is that Myrtle Beach is still one of the best options for family vacations. It’s easy to get here, gas prices are lower this year, and there are lots of new attractions that cater to the family.

We would love to hear about your memories of Myrtle Beach through the years—go on our Facebook page and share with us the things that made you want to come back to Myrtle Beach year after year. Was it the beach? The fun attractions? The restaurants? Of course, you can’t have a trip to Myrtle Beach without a great place to stay! Call us today and let us help you plan your next vacation and get you the best deal possible on your beachfront condo or house. See you this summer!

The Fabulous Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade

Friday, February 28, 2014 – by OVR Staff
One of our “jewels of the beach” is our 1.2 mile long Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade. It was completed in 2010 and has become one of the most beautiful spots on the Grand Strand! If you haven’t had the chance yet to experience the new boardwalk, you are missing out. Whether you are an experienced Myrtle Beach vacationer, or a newbie, you must take in the boardwalk and enjoy a stroll along the sandy white beaches.

The boardwalk begins at 14th Ave. N and meanders down to the 2nd Avenue Pier. Along the way are lots of shops and restaurants to enjoy, as well as numerous special events all through the summer. At Plyler Park, one of the favorite events is Hot Summer Nights right on Ocean Blvd. The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade has divided into three sections that include the northern section which goes from 14th Ave. N down to Plyler Park. The middle section goes from there down to the site of the former Pavilion Amusement Park. This section is at 8th Ave. N and has more of the fun, carnival-like feel due to all the fun shops, attractions and eateries. The southern section works its way down the ocean to the 2nd Ave. Pier. The stroll along this section is quieter with beautiful ocean views.
You can catch a ride on the SkyWheel, play some arcade games with your family, meander through the many shops, or stroll along as you enjoy the many forms of live entertainment. It’s no wonder that the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk has been voted #3 in the country by National Geographic! At a price of nearly $7 million to build, more than 800,000 feet or lumber, almost half a million nails and screws, builders put their heart and soul into this beautiful project. Don’t miss out on the boardwalk—it’s better than ever and just one of the many things we’re proud of here in Myrtle Beach! Start planning your vacation now and call us to book the best deals on the best oceanfront condos! The boardwalk is waiting….
